2019 Season

Janet Bevin’s report for the 2019 season

TUESDAY EVENING LADIES BOWLING LEAGUE
END OF SEASON CAPTAIN’S REPORT FOR 2019

After trying our best in Division 2, we are now looking forward to next season back in Division 3! We did manage to win 3 of our matches and we also lost a couple of others by only a few points.
On a positive note, Viv Rush received a prize for being a semi-finalist in the Player of the Year – very well done. We also received a prize for reaching the semi-final of the Challenge Cup, eventually losing to a strong St Oswalds team who finished third in the final table – so well done to all of our team members. There are 148 players in this division and 3 of our players were listed in the top 50 division averages, which is also a very good effort.
Many thanks to each of our team members for turning out in all weathers with smiles on their faces and always doing their best, making all of our matches a pleasure to take part in.

2018 Season

Janet Bevin’s report for the 2018 season.

– Our players are all very competitive and supportive of each other, and this ensures that we have a really pleasant and sociable evening even when the weather is inclement! In that respect we were very lucky with the weather this year for a change!

The team played a total of eighteen league games throughout the season, winning fourteen and drawing one. Two of the three losses were at the hands of the team who finished in first place. As a result we finished second in the division and achieved promotion to Division B.

We collected the runners-up trophy at the league’s presentation evening and it is now on display in the club’s trophy cabinet. We also collected a prize for reaching the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup which is played on a five at home and five away basis.

Individually Viv Rush was awarded a prize for achieving most wins in the division with sixteen from the eighteen games she played. Very well done! Viv also topped the division averages from 147 players with Janet Bevin in third spot, Joan Stott in fifth and Jackie Wilson in twelfth. Well done to them also.

Viv and Janet represented Croft at the end of season Player of the Year competition but unfortunately were unable to reach the final rounds this time. However both Viv and Janet and the whole team were able to reflect on an extremely successful season throughout 2018 with hopefully more to come in 2019 following the team’s promotion.
